An opportunity arose to be part of the Lantern Parade that took place in Newcastle on December 11th.
B-Arts, the organisation running the parade, were based in the Barracks for many years. 

One of their team, who did a voice recorded interview about the Barracks last year, passed away during the project.

Prior to the parade community lantern making workshops took place in the town during which information about the Barracks was made available and people were invited to take home the Barracks books.

The parade featured a 5.2 meter wide lantern in the shape of the entire Barracks building. Black and white photographs of some of the former users of the Barracks were featured on the lantern.

The parade paused when the Barracks came in view and there was lots of interest in the building and the lantern as it was paraded.
