In November 2018, The Barracks Trust were awarded a National Lottery Heritage Fund Grant of £98,000 to enable us to repair or replace priority windows to preserve the building.

Newcastle-under-Lyme based Len Jones Joinery Ltd successfully tendered for the window restoration and has begun on repairing and replacing priority windows.

As part of the project we are running a series of heritage activities to raise awareness of the building and its varied and interesting history and to enable people to take part in a range of heritage activities.

Volunteer Research Programme

Local historian Andrew Dobraszczyc  is working with a team of volunteers to unearth more information about the lives of the people who have lived and worked in the Barracks.

Reminiscence Gathering

Local artists and heritage specialists Letting in the Light are interviewing people who have memories of living or working in the Barracks. The interviews will be archived for future reference.
