The Barracks Trust is a charity providing local businesses & charities with affordable rental units at the Barracks building in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Our Aims

We ensure the conservation of the Barracks for present and future generations; and support local communities through grant-aiding local voluntary and community groups.

It intends to meet these aims through meeting the following objectives:

A Brief History

The Trust has been in existence since 1952 although there was a previous charitable organisation prior to the Borough Council owning the building (1925 -1952).

The Barracks were built in 1855. In 2010 we became incorporated and are now a company limited by guarantee still with charitable status.

The Trust is run by a small group of dedicated volunteers with a wide range of skills including property management, governance, insurance and IT.

The Trust pays for the services of a managing agent, Butters, John Bee, to oversee the day to day management of the property.
